A Dive in The 60's

At its core, the Marinor collection has always been a tribute to classic dive watch designs, reinterpreted with thoughtful historical references and vintage-inspired elements. We've explored the classic vintage dive watch with the Marinor Classic and the military diver with the Marinor Ghost.

Now the Marinor Rainbow transports the collection into the groovy 1960s, embracing one of the era’s defining dive watch features: the decompression scale, commonly seen on the so-called "Rainbow Divers."

fun follows function
decompression timer dial

Decompression scale dive watches, popularized by Mido, Buler, Cornavin, and Vulcain, were essential tools for divers. Their multi-colored scales weren’t just aesthetic—they provided a quick visual reference for depth levels. As divers descended, water absorbed different light wavelengths, causing colors to fade. This made the scales a practical way to associate depths with required stop times, helping prevent decompression sickness.

With a retro rainbow palette and a two-layer "sandwich" dial construction, the Marinor Rainbow blends serious diving heritage with the artistic energy of the era.

Using the rainbow scale

As depth increases, water absorbs light at different wavelengths—red fades at 20m (66ft), yellow at 27m (89ft), and green at 46m (150ft). This spectral attenuation made high-contrast dials and decompression scales essential for divers.

A virtually scratch-proof Experience
1200 hv HARDENED STEEL

The case and bracelet of the Marinor are made out of 316L (Marine-Grade) Stainless Steel in a brushed finish, an obvious choice for dive watches due to its corrosion resistance and high durability.

However, the Marinor undergoes a laborious hardening treatment, rendering the watch virtually scratch-proof.

The scratch resistance is taken further with the choice of sapphire crystal; a material known for its scratch resistance, durability, and water resistance.
